<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">that's what most people say upon seeing that pic. I used to be able to kick over my instructor's head with hook kicks and roundhouse kicks..he was 6'5. I'm 5'5. he used to call me rubberband. it never hurt though. it's cause my hip sockets aren't formed properly..they're shallower than they should be. so kicking that high is easier, cause my hips slide around in their sockets more than your average person's do. or so I assume.Originally posted by chaserfan:
that hurts just looking at you kick that high!
Tae Kwan Do rocks! It is a cool thing to be in!
I reached high Brown, and was going to go for a black - and then got my knee kicked in sideways in a sparring match that got out of control - doomed me in it.
Plus, it wasn't probably the best thing for me to be in at the time as I have too heavy a frame to really do the vault kicking.
I used to have to spar against 4/11-5/2 Koreans (I was over there at the time), and with me being 6' and over 300 lbs (like I said - large frame), I took a hell of a beating off the smaller faster ones! Although I would only need to land ONE attack and it was over!
-meg, you can go around it but no escaping it. you're fat.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I had to quit TKD cause it fucked up my knees and shoulders. didn't know I had weak joints till the damage had been done. my physical therapist told me I should've stuck to reading as a hobby instead of anything heavily physical.Originally posted by -megalithanod:

it was great while I was in it though. I was preparing to take the test to become an instructor when I ended up having to quit. if I'd been able to stick with it, I could've opened my own school eventually, which was what I had been considering doing. I still kinda hope I'll eventually be able to get back into some kind of martial art, cause I do miss being able to do it.

I really enjoyed it, and forced to give it up due to the knee. Although I am also told the punishment that I went through to learn it is the major cause of all my problems know (shoulders, wrists, hip joints, back). I wouldn't change it though - well worth the time.
I atleast had an instructor that also taught weapons, so I am still able to continue with those atleast.
